T.J. McConnell The Indiana Pacers have finalized a deal with guard T.J. McConnell for a four-year contract extension valued at $45 million. The agreement was confirmed via email to The Associated Press on Friday by McConnell’s agents, Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman. McConnell, who was already set to earn $9.3 million for the upcoming NBA season, is now committed to the Pacers through the 2028-29 season.
At 32 years old, McConnell is coming off a standout season where he achieved career-high numbers in scoring. During the regular season, he averaged 10.2 points per game and increased his performance to 11.8 points per game in the playoffs, helping Indiana make a significant run to the Eastern Conference Finals.
In addition to his scoring achievements, McConnell finished seventh in the Sixth Man of the Year Award voting. He played 71 games last season, starting in only four of those.
Originally from Western Pennsylvania, McConnell played college basketball at both Duquesne and Arizona before entering the NBA. He made his professional debut in October 2015 with the Philadelphia 76ers after going undrafted. McConnell joined the Pacers as a free agent in 2019 and has since become a crucial player for the team.
