The New York Yankees are poised for an offensive boost as the trade deadline approaches.
Struggling of late, the Yankees are expected to make strategic moves to bolster their lineup for the stretch run. One intriguing option mentioned is Chicago Cubs star Cody Bellinger, identified by Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer among the top landing spots, placing the Yankees at No. 3 on his list.
“Proposed Trade: New York Yankees acquire Cody Bellinger (CF/1B); Chicago Cubs receive Agustin Ramirez (Yankees No. 6, Catcher),” Rymer outlined. “With the Yankees boasting MLB’s 5th-best farm system, they offer a solid match for the Cubs. Ramirez’s promotion to Triple-A makes him an attractive near-term solution for Chicago’s catching needs, which have seen subpar performance (-1.0 rWAR). Financially, the Yankees face a projected $61.5 million luxury tax penalty, a consideration that may influence their pursuit of more economical upgrades.”
Despite past trade and free agency rumors linking Bellinger to the Yankees, a partnership has yet to materialize. However, with mutual interest lingering, there’s optimism that this summer could see their union come to fruition.
