The Jacksonville Jaguars are considering trading their standout running back, Travis Etienne, who rushed for 2,100 yards, to either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Baltimore Ravens. This move comes on the heels of a dismal 0-3 start to the season, highlighted by a crushing 47-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. With the Jaguars struggling to find their footing, it may be time for them to part ways with Etienne, which could open up an ideal opportunity for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys currently possess a lackluster running back lineup featuring Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Dalvin Cook.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may be hesitant to shake things up, but overlooking Etienne would be a mistake. While he may not be the ultimate solution the Cowboys are searching for, a change in scenery could benefit him. Concerns about the Cowboys’ backfield were evident during the offseason, and their performance in the first three games has validated those worries. With the team averaging under 4.0 yards per carry, it’s clear that Etienne could provide a significant upgrade.

Jones has also been criticized for his refusal to pursue Derrick Henry, claiming the team lacked the financial means to make it work. Despite having the cap space to facilitate a deal, the Cowboys failed to reach out to Henry, who had been expecting at least a phone call. This reluctance raises questions about Jones’s commitment to improving the roster, especially after proclaiming the team was going “All-In.” For Etienne, however, his speed and talent could attract interest from other teams seeking a running back.

Given that the Jaguars are unlikely to make the playoffs this year, trading Etienne could be a wise decision, allowing them to gather valuable draft picks in return. Both the Ravens and Chiefs are viable trade destinations.

In Kansas City, the situation has become pressing following Isiah Pacheco’s injury. The Chiefs are currently testing various running backs, including Samaje Perine and rookie Carson Steele, while Clyde Edwards-Helaire is dealing with personal issues. Even if Edwards-Helaire returns, he hasn’t been the same since losing his starting position to Jerick McKinnon last season. Head coach Andy Reid has suggested that Kareem Hunt’s performance is reminiscent of 2018, leaving uncertainty about his elevation to a starting role. In this context, Etienne could be the solution, especially after bouncing back strongly from a previous injury.

At just 25 years old, Etienne had an impressive season last year, rushing for 1,125 yards and scoring five touchdowns. His development suggests he has even more to offer. Joining Kansas City could allow him to thrive behind a solid offensive line, using his speed to maximize opportunities.

On the other hand, the Ravens might also consider Etienne to bolster their backfield, which currently relies heavily on Justice Hill. While Lamar Jackson often utilizes Hill for quick passes, adding Etienne could enhance the running game and create more options for the offense.

Other potential suitors for Etienne could include the Los Angeles Chargers. Following a recent injury to Justin Herbert, the team may need to lean more on their running game. Adding Etienne to support J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards could be beneficial, especially given both players’ history of injuries. Strengthening their backfield with Etienne would provide much-needed depth and versatility.

Overall, as the trade deadline approaches, Etienne’s future with the Jaguars remains uncertain, but his talent is sure to draw significant interest from teams looking to enhance their offensive capabilities.
