Known affectionately as ‘Robbo’ during his playing career, Robinson appeared in 139 games for the Bulldogs between 1977 and 1984. After a stint with Halifax in England, he returned in 1986.
During his time with the team, the front-rower celebrated premiership wins in 1980 and 1984, and also featured in the 1986 Grand Final, where the Bulldogs narrowly lost to the Parramatta Eels.
Robinson was renowned for his distinctive long black hair and powerful runs at Belmore Sports Ground. He was honored with Life Membership of the Football Club in 1994.
Following his retirement, Robinson coached the Bulldogs U21s to a premiership in 1991 and contributed to the Chester Hill Rhinos in the Jean Beam Cup from 2007 to 2009.
