With the new season on the horizon, LSU is eager to cap off a strong summer of recruiting. Five-star wide receiver target Kaliq Lockett is expected to announce his decision later this week.

LSU is in fierce competition for Lockett with traditional rivals like Alabama and Texas, as well as other contenders such as Texas A&M and Florida State.

According to On3 Industry Rankings, Lockett is the 17th overall recruit and the third-best wide receiver in the class. 247Sports rates him even higher, placing him 12th overall and second at his position.

The challenge for LSU is significant, as Texas is currently the frontrunner for Lockett according to the On3 Prediction Machine.

The Tigers have been actively recruiting several top receivers this cycle. Although LSU had an early commitment from the nation’s top receiver, Dakorien Moore, he has since decommitted and committed to Oregon. LSU is also pursuing five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench from Florida.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked among the top three nationally, with three five-star prospects already committed. If LSU secures Lockett, it would match Alabama for the most five-star recruits this cycle, totaling four.

Lockett would add to a class that already features elite receivers Derek Meadows and TaRon Francis.
